Malachi was trained in Cello and Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under Naomi Butterworth and Penelope Roskell where he specialised in Pedagogy.

As a multi-genre Cellist, Malachi has performed with Orchestras, Popular Artists and Jazz bands in a range of venues from Cadogan Hall to the Hammersmith Apollo. Malachi works frequently as a session Cellist having recorded at Abbey Road and BBC Maida Vale Studios, as well as at his home studio.

In teaching, he combines his broad musical background with a solid grounding in classical cello technique. His approach encourages students to explore their own musical interests, with an emphasis on improvisation, aural skills, and comprehensive musical understanding.

“Malachi has taught my son the cello for over a year. His friendly and professional manner meant that not only has my son made phenomenal progress but perhaps more importantly, he has also thoroughly enjoyed all his lessons and developed a real love for the cello. He has ensured my son has the correct techniques whilst also introducing him to a wide repertoire of music. I was very impressed when our lessons switched from face to face to via a screen during lockdown. Malachi’s online lessons offered the same level of engagement and technical support that we have come to expect from his face-to-face lessons. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Malachi and I know my son looks forward to his lessons every week!”

“Malachi is a very dedicated teacher who is passionate about teaching the cello. His skills as a cellist are demonstrated and his pupils aspire to his very high standard of playing. He is empathetic and encouraging. His practice notes sent after each lesson are detailed and clear. Malachi cares a great deal about his pupils and their development as cellists and musicians.”

“ Malachi knows the strengths and areas of development for his students really well. Lessons are tailored to their interests but also seek to broaden their knowledge and expertise into other areas of music. Feedback to students is really targeted with precise things they should work on to address technique and musicality.”
